Otaku Unite! is a feature-length documentary on the history of Japanese animation fandom in the United States: from the importation of anime in the early 60s to the current boom in both the visibility and accessibility of its accompanying fandom.

Marie Lamontagne, a widowed mother of two in her forties, confesses to a murder she didn't commit to protect her daughter. Thrust into brutally unfamiliar and hostile surroundings, she first learns survival, then confronts the biggest challenge of her life: bonding with her fellow inmates and helping them take back control of their lives.

In the face of AAPI violence, an intergenerational coalition of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, People of Color organizers come together to organize a march across historic Washington Heights and Harlem, as a continuation of the historic and radical Black and Asian solidarity tradition.

In these troubled times caused by political, social, and economic differences throughout the United States, one family has agreed to open up their lives in the hopes of identifying that which divides us as a nation. Ken and Annie Wilson, along with their four adult children and families, agreed to allow us to film and document every aspect of their lives over many months. With the aid of hidden cameras, undercover operatives, and a roaming camera crew, we captured the essence of a family riddled with the very problems cursing our country in this post-election era.
